POOL STUDY SHOWS POOL INTEREST IN GREATER NAPANEE

Consultants with LeisurePlan International Inc. say there is enough potential future demand for participation in indoor aquatic programs and activities in the Town of Greater Napanee for the municipality to move forward with the facility feasibility planning process. LeisurePlan's market research focused on three different age groups, 0-19, 20-39 and 40-64. The three age groups represent 79% of the Town's total population. In order to get 185 completed questionnaires for the 0-19 age group, LeisurePlan made 1,480 calls. To get 451 respondents between the ages of 20 and 64, they called 3,450 residents. Respondents were given two location options for an aquatic facility with the majority preferring the Strathcona Paper Center over the West end. Council received LeisurePlan's report at its meeting last night but won't be giving staff any direction until it hears from the pool task force later this month. The committee will present its recommendation at the June 27th council meeting.
