A man charged in the slaying of another man near Tweed has been released from custody. 36 year old Samuel Koch was granted bail and is to appear in provincial court on October 12th, when a pre-trial date may be set. Koch was originally charged with first-degree murder after the body of 53-year-old Dartt McPherson was found at a home on August 12th. However, the charge was reduced to second-degree murder after the Crown's Office said that was more appropriate, based on the evidence.
