Prince Edward OPP responded to two calls about hunters in distress over the weekend. On Saturday a 9-1-1 call came in from a resident on Loyalist Parkway saying they could hear calls for help somewhere on West Lake. Emergency crews located some hunters who had become stranded when the motor on their boat had broken down. They were making their way to shore using a small trolling motor and no one was injured. On Sunday police were called about a hunter stranded on a small island near Massassauga Point. The 39 year old Trenton man said he had been hunting on the island with a second man who he hadn't seen in several hours. The 19' aluminum boat they had used to get to the island was also missing. The Joint Rescue Co-Ordination Centre was deployed to the area and began a search. The second man was found clinging to his overturned and sinking boat near Point Ann. He was taken to Belleville hospital where he was treated for exposure. The circumstances surrounding the vessel capsizing are unclear at this time.
