The first year of the Kingston Penitentiary tours saw the KFL&A United Way receive approximately $300-thousand dollars. This year that number has grown exponentially. Staff expect over $3-million dollars in revenues this season when the tours finish at the end of the month. The partnership between Correctional Service Canada and St. Lawrence Parks Commission sees half of the profits donated to the United Way. President and CEO Bhavana Varma says the funds are huge for their youth programming. This year has seen almost 81-thousand people through the former maximum security institution.
