Residents in the Kingston area can pay for parking tickets with toys. On December 7th and 8th from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at City Hall or at 1211 John Counter Blvd, parking tickets recieved between November 1st and December 8th - excluding tickets for unauthorized parking in an accessible parking space - can be paid for with a new, unwrapped toy of equal or greater value than the amount of the ticket. Supervisor of parking services Melissa Murphy says, "the annual Toys for Tickets program turns parking tickets into toys for children in need. It's a lovely way to take some of the sting out of a ticket." Since 2005, Toys for Tickets has collected more than 2,800 toys for Kingston children. The toys are delivered to a local toy drive in time to be distributed to children in need over the holidays.
