Life jackets save lives. On Friday Greater Napanee Emergency services responded to reports of a capsized boat just off Unger Island. When they arrived they discovered the lone occupant of the boat, who was wearing a lifejacket, had been in the water for over an hour. Crews performed a water rescue and the man was treated for cold water exposure. The fire department is reminding residents that the water is still very cold and exposure could quickly lead to hypothermia. You should always wear an approved personal flotation device.
