Four members of Greater Napanee’s Emergency Services team went head to head against some of the best in the world recently at the 3M Scott Firefighter Combat Challenge World Competition. Firefighters Kevin Duncan, Dan Chalk, Robert Howe and Joe Thompson reached new personal bests in their individual runs, tandems and team relay. Duncan says it was an honour to compete against some of the best in the world.
Howe and Duncan became members of the Lion’s Den, a group of outstanding athletes that strive to reach the top of the sport. The four also competed in a team relay on the fire combat course and finished with a team personal best of 1 minute, 25 seconds and advanced to the final day of competition. Duncan and Howe moved onto the over 40 tandem relay, where they finished 9th overall. The competition was held October 21st to the 26th in Montgomery, Alabama.
