Flags in the City of Quinte West have been lowered to half-mast in honour of former long-time councillor Bob Wannamaker who died on December 25th , at age 80.
Wannamaker joined City council in the early 1970s and served as part of the Town of Trenton and City of Quinte West. He was instrumental in bringing events such as the Summer Concert Series and Big Band festivals to life in the City, continuously being vocal about highlighting local talent in the community. Wannamaker also sat on several committees and led numerous City initiatives. He retired from politics at the end of the 2018 term of Council, ending his 40+ year career as a municipal politician.
“Bob will forever be remembered as a man who cared for his community,” Says Quinte West Mayor Jim Harrison. “It was an absolute pleasure to work alongside Bob for many years. His seat at the council table will never be filled in the same way again. Bob’s legacy will outlive all of us, and we cannot thank him enough for his endless years of service. He will be greatly missed by all of Quinte West.”
