Immigration in the Bay of Quinte region was in the provincial spotlight last week.
The Bay of Quinte Regional Marketing Board won an Economic Developers Council of Ontario (EDCO) Award of Excellence in the Workforce Development & Resident Attraction category for its documentary, A Place to Call Home.
The film, which also won the Best Local Film award at Belleville Downtown DocFest in 2020, tells the story of new Canadians who have made the Bay of Quinte region their home.
The documentary is a joint effort between the Marketing Board and the Cities of Belleville and Quinte West, produced in collaboration with local film duo Tess Girard and Ryan J. Noth of Fifth Town Films.
The filmmakers followed students at Loyola School of Adult Education over several days, documenting their experience in the English as a Second Language program with glimpses into their new lives in Canada.
The documentary is available for viewing on the Regional Marketing Board’s YouTube channel.
Visit immigration.bayofquinte.ca for more regional immigration resources. The Regional Marketing Board is nominated for another EDCO award in the Tourist Attraction category for their summer marketing campaign, Take A Drive and Meet Us Here in Bay of Quinte.
The winner will be announced on February 10th.
