Some YMCAs in the area are supporting several community investments, announced in the latest federal budget.
In a media release, YMCA of Central East Ontario President and CEO David Allen says the organization’s thankful for the government’s proposed investment into affordable childcare for local families.
As part of the plan put out yesterday, the Trudeau government aims to see an average drop in fees next year by 50 per cent for preschooler daycare spaces.
Allen adds that the the YMCA also supports the proposed extension of the Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy and the Canada Emergency Rent Subsidy, as well as the creation of the Community Services Recovery Fund and the Canada Recovery Hiring Program.
He also adds the YMCA is interested in being part of the new National Advisory Council, following yesterday’s childcare announcement.
