Some community members may have missed seeing the notice, but Frontenac Municipal Law Enforcement has been contracted by the Town of Greater Napanee to monitor roadways and streets and are enforcing any parking infractions that are in violation of the Town’s by-law’s.
Napanee Mayor Marg Isbester told myFM the two hour free parking in downtown Napanee hasn’t been enforced in roughly three to four years.
Isbester went on to mention some people in the community had been abusing the two hour free parking downtown.
Some examples of parking infractions that are subject to a fine include parking against the flow of traffic, parking too close to, or blocking, a fire hydrant or exceeding 2-hour parking on the street in the downtown core.
Isbester said they are not out picking and choosing who to ticket, as she herself has received a ticket.
More information in this new enforcement is available in the Town of Greater Napanee’s public notice.
