If you noticed individuals with flags in downtown Napanee yesterday, there was an information picket taking place. Members of Unifor Local 414 working for Lennox and Addington Interval House hit the streets looking for support from the community. In a flyer being handed out it stated, “this is about simple language requests to bring us in line with sister organizations in Kingston and Belleville, and to protect, enhance and modernize our contract.”
myFM went down and spoke with one of the individuals about why they were out.
The flyer went on to say the Employer is now spending thousands of dollars in legal counsel, while trying to ask for a monetary concession to eliminate their mental health benefits.
myFM reached out to the Lennox and Addington Interval House Executive Director and received this response, “During our last meeting with the Union, the Employer tabled an offer to settle the collective agreement. The Union ended that meeting without a response and has not provided a response since then. We have outlined parameters for a return to the bargaining table but the Union has refused so far.”
