A new name will appear on the ballot for Hastings-Lennox and Addington County in the upcoming federal election. Jennifer Sloan, Incumbent MP Derek Sloan’s wife, will run as an Independent for H-L&A.
“Why run as an independent? Because instead of going along with the business-as-usual attitude in Ottawa that has placed Canada’s best interests behind so many other agendas, I will fight against those selling us out. There are many other important issues to discuss this campaign, and I look forward to hearing from citizens about what matters to them the most.” Sloan said in a media release.
myFM Spoke with Sloan as to her decision to run.
After discovering a lot of support in Alberta, Incumbent MP Sloan and his team decided to run for MP in Banff-Airdrie.
“I will always stand up and speak out on behalf of constituents and all Canadians who believe their votes elect Members of Parliament to go to Ottawa to make a real difference – as opposed to whatever the “party line” might be. Many across our community feel that it is vital we send a person with real, independent fighting spirit to Ottawa to stand up for the things we all hold sacred, like our families; our communities; and ultimately the truth, when nobody else will fight for us. We have been placed under attack by the Prime Minister and his regressive policies; and we have been taken for granted and ridiculed by the Conservative Party of Canada. That is why my Independent candidacy is a welcome entrance to this race in Hastings-Lennox & Addington. ”
When asked, Sloan had this message for the H-L&A Community
Sloan will be added to the ballot alongside Liberal candidate Mike Bossio and Conservative candidate Shelby Kramp-Neuman.
