With the recent increase in COVID-19 cases locally, and area school age kids now being infected, parents are starting to worry for their children’s health, and the possibility of schools closing again.
KFL&A Public Health say the recent positive cases in school age kids were not transmitted in the school environment, but instead through close contact with families or in social gatherings.
During a call with local media, myFM spoke with Associate Medical Officer of Health Dr. Hugh Guan, about COVID-19 safety in our schools.
He says this is much different compared to stories that may have been heard from other jurisdictions.
Dr. Guan says they know being in school is very much beneficial to children’s mental, physical and social well being, and they want to keep kids in school for as long as possible.
