We are getting closer and closer to celebrating a true Canadian milestone.
This coming January 22nd, marks the 30th anniversary of Roberta Bondar becoming the first Canadian woman in space.
Chair of the Roberta Bondar Foundation, Bonnie Patterson, says remembers watching it live.
While in space, Dr. Bondar conducted more than 40 experiments on behalf of scientists from 14 different countries in NASA’s first International Microgravity Lab — the precursor to today’s International Space Station.
It was also that eight-day journey aboard NASA’s shuttle that inspired the Foundation to be dedicated to connecting people to the natural world, inspiring curiosity, respect and conservation of the environment while building healthier lives.
To celebrate this special anniversary, the Foundation is hosting a virtual evening with Dr. Bondar and a host of great Canadian entertainers, leaders and luminaries. Guests include Anne Murray, Buffy Sainte-Marie, Susan Aglukark, Hayley Wickenheiser and David Saint-Jacques.
Tickets are available now through Eventbrite with options for General Admission or a VIP Package with access to an exclusive live Q+A with Dr. Bondar. Ticket information can be found here.
