The New Democrats in Hastings—Lennox and Addington have selected Eric DePoe to be their NDP candidate in the 2022 provincial election. DePoe is a paralegal, an entrepreneur, a local union leader, and a champion for community organizations.
When speaking with myFM he told us of his time as chef and owner of The Waterfall Café in Yarker, which he ran for 17 years. DePoe and his wife Barb now live in Napanee, where Eric still maintains his paralegal practice.
DePoe told us why he is running in H-L&A.
DePoe went on to say there are many reasons he’s running, but believes we need to make Ontario a better place for everybody to live.
He told us of some issues locally and across the province he feels is important.
He also noted an important, local health issue, being the questions of the asphalt plant, which he thinks threatens air quality, ground water, and the beautiful Napanee River.
Another issue that DePoe thinks is a big problem if the privatization of health care. He says we need better homecare, so seniors can stay in their communities and homes as they age.
