The following is a press release from the Town of Greater Napanee:
At the closing of its June 14, 2022, Regular Session of Council, Council endorsed the proposal presented by CAO, John Pinsent, in Closed Session regarding the acquisition of 99 Advance Avenue as an administrative office building. The capital expenditure for the Town to obtain ownership of the building is $5.8 million (inclusive of office furniture, move and minor fit up costs). The proposal was also approved by the FACSFLA Board of Directors who met the evening of June 14, 2022.
This building will serve as a new centralized office in which all municipal departments work and operate out of. Having all municipal staff in one building will create a functional workspace which will allow for departmental efficiencies and create an atmosphere for new employee attraction. The community will have a single point of access for all services offered to residents and service user groups. Once the sale is approved by the province, staff are anticipating the Fall of 2022 to open its centralized office.
FACSFLA, the current owner, will continue working out of 99 Advance Avenue upon the Town’s official ownership and plan not only to be available to those who require services in L&A County, but also to continue to strengthen its partnerships with other community service providers.
“We are pleased the Town of Greater Napanee has come forward to acquire our building and look forward to being part of a larger community services space,” says Executive Director of FACSFLA, Sonia Gentile. Gentile adds, “this building has been our home for over ten years, and we will continue to serve the needs of the community.”
KFL&A Public Health and the Maltby Centre will continue to use the building as office space as well.
Town staff will be bringing a report to the June 28 meting with more details on the proposed funding strategy for this acquisition, which will include a combination of existing dedicated reserves, selling assets determined as surplus to the Town’s needs, and debentures.
Residents are encouraged to subscribe to the Town’s News & Notices section of its website, www.greaternapanee.com, or the FACSFLA website, www.facsfla.ca, as these will be the primary locations to find any further information as it becomes available.
