
The Napanee Raiders have lot’s to be thankful for this Thanksgiving weekend having chalked up two more wins and improving their record to 8-0.
Friday night the Napanee Raiders played host to their L&A County rivals, the Amherstview Jets at the Strathcona Paper Centre. The first period scoring started strong with three goals within about one minute for the Raiders by Ben Chubbs, Ben Carter, and Reid Lambert. Then one last goal from Ryan Kidd made it a 4-0 game for the Raiders at the end of the first. The second period saw two goals by the Jets that were answered with a goal from Adam Nuttall to end the period 5-2. The third period saw three goals for the Raiders by Cameron Krupa, Maverick Labrie and Ben White. The Jets responded with two goals to end the period. The Napanee Raiders beat the Jets 8-4, improving their record to 7-0.
Saturday night the Raiders took a trip to Port Hope to play the Panthers. First period started with a goal by the Panthers that was quickly answered by Ben Chubbs to make it a 1-1 game. Noah Westwater then got the Raiders second goal of the night. The Panthers answered with their second goal of the game tying the game back up at 2-2. Within the last two minutes of the period Napanee got three goals by Nicholas Goosney, Marshal McFarland, Reid Lambert to give the Raiders a 5-2 lead to end the first. The second period began with two goals by the Panthers for a 5-4 game. The period ended with a goal for Napanee by Cameron Krupa and one for the Panthers within the last two minutes to end the period with a 6-5 score. The third period saw two goals for the Raiders from Ryan Kidd and Soren Zamuner and one goal for the Panthers for an 8-6 final score.
The Napanee Raiders sit atop the East Tod Division standings with a 8-0 record and 16 points. They sit above the second place Jets who have 10 points and third place Picton who has 6.
The Raiders now have the rest of the long weekend to relax before returning to action next Friday, October 14th when they’ll host the Campbellford Rebels at the SPC. Puck drop is 7:30.
