There’s lots happening this Friday at the Museum of Lennox and Addington. With it being a PA Day, the Museum is offering morning and afternoon programs to keep you and the kids entertained.
The programs are connected to the Museum’s exhibit, Owls of Amherst Island & Other Canadian Wildlife, and will give children a chance to explore the Museum while learning from some exciting guest speakers that specialize in wildlife rescue and rehabilitation.
The fun starts at 10:00am with a visit from the OWL Foundation (rescheduled from earlier this month). The OWL Foundation is based out of Vineland and works to rescue and rehabilitate orphaned owls. This visit will feature a 40-50-minute presentation that looks at the mishaps that befall owls, the treatment and care they receive at the Owl Foundation, and the foundation’s successes and some losses. It includes photos of owls both while receiving treatment, and unrestricted birds in the wild. Participants will also have fun exploring the Owl and Other Birds Inquiry Table as well as diving into a take home OWL themed activity booklet. It should be noted that this program is best suited for ages 6+. Regular admission fees apply to attend this program (adults = $3/person, children 12 and under = free). No pre-registration is required. You can learn more about the program here.
In the afternoon from 1:30 – 2:30pm, Lennox & Addington’s Sandy Pines Wildlife Centre will provide a virtual tour of their facility. Participants are invited to sit in the Museum’s program room and virtually interact with the hardworking staff of the Wildlife Centre. Questions are encouraged throughout the presentation. This virtual tour is intended for ages 4+. Regular admission fees apply to attend this program (adults = $3/person, children 12 and under = free). No pre-registration is required. You can learn more about the program here.
To attend both sessions, admission fees will only be charged once. Simply check in with Museum staff when you arrive and you will be presented with a receipt for both sessions.
The Museum of Lennox & Addington is located at 97 Thomas Street East in Napanee. For more information about this event, please call 613.354.3027 or visit the website here.
