Thanks to a recent investment by the Ontario government, the Lennox and Addington County General Hospital will be getting it’s very first MRI machine.
Hastings-Lennox and Addington MPP Ric Bresee was in attendance Thursday for this $1 million announcement.
Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Health Robin Martin made the announcement.
Magnetic resonance imaging, also known as MRI, is a noninvasive medical imaging test that gives doctors detailed images of organs, bones, muscles and blood vessels.
This announcement is part of the governments over $20 million investment to support the operations of 27 new MRI machines across the province.
For the people of the Greater Napanee and surrounding area, this announcement means they will not have to travel far to be able to receive diagnostic imaging. Between 5,000 and 7,000 people will benefit from this new machine per year.
The hospital will now be going through the acquisition and licensing steps so that the machine can be installed in the hospital. The hope is to have the machine by the end of 2023.
