Whether you already have a green thumb, or you’re looking for a new skill. This workshop may be for you! Topsy Farms on Amherst Island will be hosting a Fruit Tree Grafting Workshop.
myFM spoke with Stephen Kapusta, who will be leading the workshop, about tree grafting. He says tree grafting is where you take a cutting from a fruit tree and splice it onto rootstock.
Participants are encouraged to dress according to the weather, as the class will be held in their unheated barn. For the workshop participants are to bring their own protective work gloves, a sharp utility knife, a bag to keep their tree roots moist or a 1 or 2 gallon pot and soil to plant their tree.
We asked Kapusta if participants will be able to bring their work home.
The workshop is set to take place March 25th at 10am.
