The film and television industry’s writers strike continues in the US, but what does that mean for Canada, and our local film industry?
Christmas movies are a big draw, with many filmed across eastern Ontario.
The movies draw fans to where they’re shooting with the hopes of seeing the (usually) one big name in trhe production. After they air our communities can use them to help sell the area as a tourist destination.
myFM asked Character’s Talent Agent and film producer Ryan Goldhar if the strike would affect shoots this year.
Most of these Christmas productions for American networks. Goldhar tells us, that particular niche should be okay.
Also up for contract talks soon are directors and actors.
A big sticking point in all negotiations is the use of Artificial Intelligence, or AI in the industry, potentially replacing talent.
