It’s Hooray for Coaches Day on myFM! We are profiling Ben Hagerman.
Like many young Canadians, Ben grew up playing hockey and developed a love for the game and played for many years. After his time at university he moved back home where he was offered an assistant coaching position. He later moved to Napanee full time and began coaching with the Napanee Stars before now sitting as head coach of the Napanee Raiders.
He’s had many accomplishments as a coach. He tells us that ranges from an awesome comeback during a game, or the division title the Raiders won in recent years during Game seven of the playoffs versus Amherstview.
When asked for advice for others interested in coaching, Ben says it’s a great opportunity to also learn a lot more about yourself and what you need to work on as a person. For example, how are you at communicating or how about reacting to conflict? He says that’s the coolest part about coaching.
