It’s Hooray for Coaches Day on myFM! We are profiling Robyn-Michelle Leroux.
Robyn-Michelle is a teacher at Napanee District Secondary School and is part of the coaching staff for the NDSS Girls Rugby team. Early on she was approached by former athletic director Todd Collard, because they were in need of a coach. She agreed having never played or watched a game. She would go on to learn a lot about the game since.
This past season she and fellow coaches Sean Dunleavy, Jeff Brady, Sam Chowan, Jill Lynott, and Makenna Marlow helped the team to an antique bronze win at OFSAA.
But she says coaching is also a team sport, with former principal Erin Pincivero attending game to cheer them on. So would Carrie Moore and Brent Mills who also helped with paperwork.
As to what she gets out of the experience, she tells us it’s incredible getting to watch how these girls manage their time and show such dedication and commitment.
When asked for her proudest accomplishment, she tells us it’s not what it does for you, it’s what it does for your students.
