Cataraqui Conservation and other regional Water Managers have started to lower the water levels on some lakes in the Cataraqui Region.
This is done every year after the summer season to make room for more water from fall and spring.
It also helps to keep the water levels steady before the winter freeze.
Some lakes have more water than usual because of the rain, so staff are working to release more water through the dams.
The water flow will be higher downstream during this time.
The water levels may change depending on the rain, but they should be done by December.
Please be careful and stay away from the dams and fast water.

Recent rainfall has necessitated higher flows through some water control structures. Adjustments by staff will continue over the coming weeks and months to increase discharge and reduce water levels at the following Cataraqui Conservation managed dams (lakes):
- Wilton Road Dam (Odessa Lake)
- Sydenham Lake Dam
- Temperance Lake Dam
- Fred Grant Dam (Lees Pond)
- Broome-Runciman Dam (Buell’s Creek Reservoir at the Mac Johnson Wildlife Area)
