It is Seeds of Success Day; a look at leaders in the local agricultural sector…brought to you by Napanee Home Furniture, Green Tractors, and McCutcheon Insurance. We’re looking at Frisklane Holsteins.
From growing up on the farm to now watching her own children fall in love with the farm, it’s a badge of honour for Jenn Frisken, who is fourth generation at Frisklane Holsteins.
A typical day sees them wake up to feed and milk their 48 cows bright and early. Somewhere in there you have to then get the kids up and ready for school. That is usually followed by chores throughout the day, and another feeding in the evening. On the side she tells us the boys have an antique farm all international tractor collection, and she has a small herd of mini donkeys!
Frisken tells us there are always challenges on the farm, whether that be the weather, inflation, or even politics.
But the negative is outweighed by the joy’s of being home every day and working alongside your family, and seeing the love that your own children are starting to develop for the farm and having that 5th generation want to carry on.
