There was a faint smell of smoke in the air today as Greater Napanee woke up.
At approximately 2:40am Monday, Greater Napanee Fire Department was alerted of possible structure fire at 170 York Street, the old arena, now known as the Lennox Agricultural Memorial Community Centre.
myFM spoke with Napanee Fire Chief Bill Hammond on scene.
Hammond say’s there’s now no risk to public safety.
There will now be an investigation into what happened to this historic building.
The OPP Investigators are asking anyone who lives in the area and who may have home surveillance cameras or Dash camera video to upload a copy of their footage taken between 1:30 and 3:00 AM this morning (23 October, 2023) using the following secure evidence submission portal: https://bit.ly/napanee_agbuilding_fire
Anyone with information on this fire is asked to contact the Lennox and Addington County OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
myFM has also confirmed with the Napanee and District Curling Club that their building, immediately next door the fire, is okay.
