The latest ‘Livable Wage’ report has been released and it has shown an increase in all regions of Ontario, including ours.
After the numbers were crunched, the Ontario Living Wage Network says you have to earn at least $20.60 cents an hour to make ends meet in our region.
Communications Coordinator Craig Pickthorne says the takeaway from this data is simple.
Pickthorne adds while he doesn’t expect the government to make the minimum wage, a living wage anytime soon, there are things they can do.
The GTA has the highest rate at $25.05 and the Southwest (Windsor) coming in at $18.85. Ontario’s third highest rate – Ottawa – saw the largest increase over last year of 12 percent, going up to $21.95 from $19.60.
