The Ministry of Education has approved a change to the Limestone District School Boards calendar for 2023/24.
In November, the LDSB approved a change, shifting their Professional Activity Day (PA Day) from April 12 to April 8. This adjustment aimed to accommodate the upcoming total solar eclipse.
Anticipated to take place on April 8 around 3:20 pm, coinciding with the typical school dismissal time, the eclipse poses potential risks such as reduced visibility and eye damage for students.
Given that such an event hasn’t graced this region for almost seven centuries and won’t reoccur for another 375 years, preparations are underway to ensure student safety and enhance their experience. Prior to the event, educational opportunities will be provided to students to maximize their safety and enjoyment.
