Open Voices Community Choir has been busy practicing for their upcoming concert and are excited to showcase their talent to the community.
myFM spoke with the choir’s artistic director, Andy Rush, who is a retired music teacher from Ernestown Secondary School in Odessa.
The choir came to be about 23 years ago when Rush and some of his singing friends came together and decided to form the choir.
This is an un-auditioned choir featuring a range of talents. Choir members also vary in age from being in their 20’s up to their 80’s and are from Napanee to Gananoque and everywhere in between.
They have an upcoming “Swingin’ the Blues” concert scheduled for January 27th at Cooke’s Portsmouth United Church in Kingston. The concert is set to be a vocal jazz and blues show Rush explained. He told us about the musicians who will be backing them up.
Audience members can expect to enjoy this 100-person choir and a great jazz rhythm section.
Tickets are available online right now.
