In playoff action, the Goodyear U13 Napanee Stars defeated Campbellford 3-2 on Saturday. Chase Castignier’s shot from the right circle with a two man advantage early on gave them the lead. Maddux Hartwick and Bryson Wilson earned assists. The Colts tallied in the second, but Hartwick restored the lead when the Colts failed to clear the zone. Hartwick also got the winner walking in from centre to snap a shot over the goalie’s glove with 1:49 remaining. Campbellford played with six attackers, but the locals won four faceoffs in a row to end the game. Shots favoured Napanee 24-21.
The D&D Electrocraft U18 Napanee Stars doubled up on Tweed 6-3 Saturday night. Tweed took an early lead. Near the end of the first Jason Cox tapped in a puck near the crease to even the score. Not finished, Zered Haller’s backhand got by the visiting goalie for a buzzer beater. A deflection by Tweed’s Reid Whalen evened things at two before a power play shot along the ice in the second restored Napanee’s lead. In the third, Carter Slaven potted one from the slot, and Caleb South scored off the faceoff. Tweed got a power play marker with 14 seconds left, and Slaven would get his second with seven seconds left. Napanee outshot the Hawks 30-24.
Facing the league leading Ennismore squad, the U15 Napanee Stars fell 8-1. The boys were solid for a couple of periods, but the wheels fell off in the third frame. In the first, Wes Davey scored on a fine shot from the slot. Their guests, still in the first, were able to jump on a rebound to tie things, and then go ahead on a point shot. Eight seconds into a power play, the visitors made it 3-1. Shots favoured Napanee 10-8 in the second. The third was all Ennismore who scored five unanswered goals.
The Cpk U11B Napanee Stars competed strong in their playoff game in Norwood, but lost 4-2. Trailing by two in the second frame, Luke Dunn scored from Connor Howse. Nathan Kimmett’s tally with 33 seconds remaining was too little, to late.
The U11D Stars hosted Lakefield on Sunday suffering a 7-2 loss. Oliver Campbell and Harrison Van Derhayden-Sharpe scored for Napanee.
