Later this year, an exciting change is coming to the arena in Greater Napanee.
Known as the Strathcona Paper Centre since opening its doors in 2004, it will soon be known as the Best and Bash Arena.
Mayor Terry Richardson explained to council and those watching the meeting who Best & Bash Developments are.
The developers intend to build several homes in Greater Napanee. As of now, 545 of these homes have been approved for construction at Springside Meadows.
Best and Bash Developments emerged as the sole submission in response to the town’s call for proposals, offering a financial bid of the minimum requirement: thirty thousand dollars per year for a ten-year term.
During discussions about the arena’s renaming in council chambers, Councillor Bill Martin and others shared that they like the name.
Councillor Angela Hicks says she would like “centre” to remain in the name as its more than just an arena. Discussions will continue to finalize the name.
Mayor Richardson went on to thank and acknowledge Strathcona Paper for their support over the last 20 years.
The agreement begins September 1, 2024 and will last until August 31, 2034.
