It’s Local Manufacturing Week presented by the Napanee Co-operators. Today we are profiling Rebecca Maracle.
Rebecca is a fourth generation traditional Mohawk Feathersmith and Medicine Healer. Coming from a long line of artists, musicians and wordsmiths, Rebecca has taken on the family business in her own style, continuing on the legacy of craftmanship and creating offerings to the community and people all around the world.
Rebecca Maracle Mohawk Feathersmith Gift & Gallery first opened in 2016, but before that she worked out of her home. Rebecca’s grandfather started the first gift shop in Tyendinaga in 1957.
Rebecca manufacturers everything herself. She says it’s this way because of the medicine she holds and the energy she chooses to put into things to carry it forward. “It has to be medicine for me first before it’s medicine for other people,” she shared.
