UPDATE: Highway 401 between Shannonville and Belleville has now fully reopened as of 3:40pm.

UPDATE: Highway 401 eastbound is now open to one lane of traffic as cleanup continues.

UPDATE: Highway 401 westbound has reopened. The OPP say the eastbound lanes will be closed for most of the day.
Anyone traveling east is to exit at Hwy 37 north to Blessington Road, travel east to Shannonville Road, then south back onto the 401.
The only vehicle involved was the transport. The OPP have now shared there were no injuries to the driver.

Original Article: Highway 401 is closed both east and westbound between Shannonville Road and North Front Street, Belleville due to a due to a collision and vehicle fire.
Detours are currently in place:
- W/B- Shannonville to Old Highway 2 to Hwy 37 and back on 401
- E/B- Hwy 62 to Old Highway 2 to Shannonville Road and back on 401
The accident took place around 4:30am Thursday. The OPP are on scene.
OPP report a transport truck collided with the centre median near Belleville. As of 6:07am the truck is still fully engulfed and the fire department remains on scene. A heavy tow is on standby for assessment and recovery.
