Kara and her husband Daryl are fourth gen farmers. They bought their current farm after university and have continued to grow their herd.
On a typical day on the farm for this time of year, they’re calving out their fall cows. They’re also prepping for corn harvest and the planting of their winter wheat.
When asked for her favourite part of the industry, she says she really enjoys raising animals and seeing the whole cycle go through. She added that receiving the feedback after on the quality of meat is great to hear after the time and effort put into raising that animal.
For those interested in getting into the industry, Kara says getting involved might look a little intimidating, but that it’s easy to start small. “It’s very rewarding to watch what your raised become a final product that you can either enjoy as your family or your neighbours and friends can enjoy it.”
