
A transport truck driver has been charged with dangerous operation after entering Highway 401 in the wrong direction in Greater Napanee. The incident occurred on September 30, 2024, just after 8:00 p.m., when police received multiple reports of a truck traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes near Palace Road.
The truck, seen driving on the north shoulder of the highway, eventually turned around at a westbound service center. Officers from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Lennox and Addington Detachment located the vehicle heading westbound and safely stopped it.
The driver, identified as 48-year-old Balwinder Dhaliwal from Brampton, was arrested and charged with dangerous operation. Dhaliwal has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear in Court in Greater Napanee on November 19, 2024.
