The OPP is stressing the need for safety this Halloween as kids will flood the streets knocking on doors and sometimes darting out into traffic.
Spokesperson Bill Dickson says drivers can be caught off guard.
He says kids can appear out of anywhere.
As for other areas of concern, Dickson says never let a kid trick or treat alone.
If teens are going as a group, that should be fine, but make sure you know where they’re going.
When it comes to costumes he realizes many won’t wear something light in colour so if you’re darkly dressed, bring a flashlight and try to stay under streetlights.
And speaking of “dark.”
Final note: Always make sure you check your child’s candy before they eat any of it. Dickson says they still get reports of people who have tampered with treats.
