Four people have been arrested in connection to a string of bank robberies in Ontario, including a bank in Belleville.
Police investigators say the robberies usually included two or three suspects entering banks just before they closed, wearing different masks in each occurence.
In total, there’s about $2-million that was stolen across eight banks, which has not yet been recovered.
Ontario Provincial Police says in tandem with police forces in Belleville, Niagara, Barrie, Durham and York, eight bank robberies are being investigated, while a ninth was thwarted.
On June 21st this year, three suspects were arrested during an attempted robbery in Field, Ontario, by OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit and the Aviation Unit, with support from OPP West Nipissing Major Crime and CIB. A fourth suspect was arrested on September 25th in Vaughan.
One suspect is still outstanding, 32-year-old Akeem Williams of Ajax. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to not approach him and contact police immediately.
