Staff at Millhaven Institution, a maximum-security federal facility in Bath, successfully seized a package containing contraband and unauthorized items on October 24th.
The confiscated items included tobacco, crystal methamphetamine, an edged weapon, a cell phone, and cell phone accessories, with a total estimated institutional value of $196,400.
The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) employs various methods to prevent drugs and prohibited items from entering its institutions. These measures include using ion scanners and drug-detector dogs to search buildings, personal property, inmates, and visitors.
The seizure underscores the ongoing efforts of CSC staff to maintain safety and security within the facility while preventing the introduction of contraband items that could threaten the institution’s integrity. Further investigations into the source of the contraband are ongoing.
