After a perfect run in October, the Napanee Raiders started the month of November by splitting a pair of games.
Friday, November 1, the Raiders welcomed the Lakefield Chiefs to the Best & Bash Arena. Andrew Carr was the first to score during the period to start the evening with a 1-0 Raiders lead. Lakefield quickly answered that call the tie the game. Carr then scored his second of the night to end the first period with a 2-1 Raiders lead. Around the halfway point of the second period, Lakefield scored to tie the game at 2. Then, Carr scored his third of the night for the hat-trick and to regain the Raiders lead. Before the period came to an end, Lakefield scored twice more to tie the game then take a 4-3 lead. Lakefield secured their lead with their 5th goal of the night. With less than 5 minutes left in the period, Lakefield scored twice on an empty Raiders net to take a 7-3 lead. Then with 1:14 left in the period, Carter Hartwick scored the Raiders fourth goal of the night for a 7-4 final, Lakefield win.
Saturday, November 2nd, the Raiders hit the road to play the North Kawartha Knights. First period saw Napanee take a 3-0 lead thanks to goals by Michael Patrick, Matthew Airhart and Isaac Brown. The Knights opened the scoring in the second period with their first of the night, which Napanee answered with two more goals by Erik MacNiel and Airhart for a 5-1 lead. During the third period, the Raiders padded their win with a goal by Trent Williams for a 6-1 final score.
As of the time of publication, the Napanee Raiders were in second place in the East Tod Division standings with a 10-3 record and 20 points.
The Raiders are back in action Friday, November 8 when they host North Kawartha at 7:30pm. Then on Sunday, November 10th, they’re on the road for their first game of the season against their L&A County rivals, the Amherstview Jets at 7:25.
