Quinte Conservation (QC) has launched its annual Adopt An Acre campaign, encouraging the public to support Beaver Meadow Conservation Area in Prince Edward County. The funds raised will go toward replacing the wetland lookout platforms, with an estimated cost of $20,000.
Beaver Meadow has a rich history, having been an experimental farm in the early 1900s. Today, it is home to 330 plant species, including wildflowers and deciduous trees, and offers a habitat for wildlife like beavers, blue herons, and ospreys. The lookout platforms provide visitors with an opportunity to enjoy and learn about the wetland ecosystem.
The Adopt An Acre campaign allows nature enthusiasts to symbolically adopt an acre of QC land for $30, receiving a certificate and tax receipt. Those adopting two acres for $60 will also get an exclusive QC plush forest animal. The campaign runs until December 23, with a goal of adopting 200 acres.
