A driver from Long Sault is facing multiple charges following a series of vehicle collisions and a police pursuit on Highway 401 westbound on December 13, 2024. The chaos began in Leeds County and continued through Kingston and Napanee, with the driver allegedly refusing to stop for police after colliding with several vehicles.
The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded with officers from multiple detachments, supported by the Highway Safety Division, Emergency Response Team, and an OPP helicopter. The vehicle was finally stopped in a parking lot off Shannonville Road. No injuries were reported.
Raphael Cote, 29, has been charged with dangerous operation, careless driving, failure to stop after an accident, flight from a peace officer, and stunt driving.
Cote was released to another police service for an unrelated matter. He is scheduled to appear in court in Brockville on January 24, 2025, and in Napanee on February 11, 2025.
