A winter weather travel advisory is in effect for Greater Napanee and nearby regions starting late tonight through Thursday afternoon.
Hazardous conditions are expected, with reduced visibility in heavy and blowing snow. Total snowfall accumulations of 5 to 10 cm are forecast, with peak snowfall rates of 2 to 4 cm per hour.
Lake effect snow bands from Lake Ontario will move into the area late tonight, creating challenging travel conditions. After a brief break late Thursday morning, additional snow is expected in the afternoon before clearing by evening.
Motorists should prepare for hazardous winter driving conditions, adjust their travel plans, and avoid unnecessary travel if possible. Drivers are urged to reduce speed, maintain safe distances, and be ready for rapidly changing road conditions.
Due to snow received in some areas overnight and additional snow expected this afternoon, school bus transportation is cancelled in Tri-Board’s southern weather zones today. The canceled areas include the Kingston Area, Prince Edward County, Belleville and Quinte West and South Lennox and Addington.
Stay updated on local weather alerts and road conditions, and take extra precautions during this winter weather event.
