Friday night at the Best and Bash Arena, the Napanee Raiders hosted the Lakefield Chiefs for the final time this regular season before heading to Port Hope on Sunday fora matinee game.
On Friday, January 17th, it was a powerful start of the game with goals by Ethan Boutillier (2), Christos Chronis, Ben White and Trent Williams all scoring within the first 7 minutes and 20 seconds of the first period for a 5-0 lead. Second period also had it’s excitement with a few penalties and the Raiders 6th goal of the night by Trent Williams. A scoreless third period means a 6-0 shutout win for the Napanee Raiders.
Sunday, January 19th, the Raiders hit the road for an afternoon game against the Panthers. Ben White scored the first goal for the Raiders a little over 3-minutes into the first period. Port Hope quickly rallies to tie the game. But then a goal by Matthew Airhart would regain the Raiders lead to end the period 2-1. 27-seconds into the second period Port Hope would score to once again tie the game, but it was all Raiders after that. Isaac Brown scored the Raiders third of the night to regain their lead. Then the only goals scored during the third period were by Cole Campbell and Isaac Brown leading to a 5-2 Raiders win!
As of the time of publication, the Napanee Raiders were tied for first place in the East Tod Division standings with a 24-7-1-1 record and 50 points, tied with the Frankford Huskies (25-8 record and 50 points).
The Raiders are back in action Wednesday, January 22nd, when the Raiders head to Amherstview too play the Jets at 7:25pm. There is no home game Friday night, but the Raiders will be home Saturday, January 25th to host the Port Hope Panthers at 3:30pm. Then, to finish the weekend, they head to Trent Hills on Sunday, January 26th at 4:00pm.
