The Ontario NDP has chosen Jessica Zielke as its candidate for Hastings–Lennox and Addington in the upcoming provincial election on February 27.
Zielke has spent the past decade involved in education, serving as a school council chair at both elementary and secondary levels. She is also a member of the Parent Involvement Committee at the Hastings Prince Edward District School Board. She says her experience has shown her how Ontario’s public education system has declined due to neglect.
Zielke says she will fight for better education, healthcare, housing, and affordability. She believes NDP Leader Marit Stiles can build a government that truly cares for Ontarians.
Stiles says Zielke has a strong record of community service and is the kind of leader needed at Queen’s Park.
Zielke, who grew up in Northbrook and Tweed, now lives in the south part of the riding with her husband and two children.
Also on the ballot so far in H-L&A are Ric Bresee (PC Party of Ontario), Lynn Rigby (Ontario Liberal Party), Mike Holbrook (Green Party of Ontario) and Derek Sloan (Ontario Party).
