It’s President’s Club Day presented by Napanee Home Furniture and Appliances. Today we’re featuring Kevin Alkenbrack…Executive Director of the Morningstar Mission
Morningstar Mission, a local charity dedicated to fighting poverty, is helping hundreds of people in the Greater Napanee area with vital services. Founded as a simple Saturday supper program, the mission now offers free meals, a takeout meal program, and a seasonal warming center for those without shelter. Each year, the mission helps around 750 low-income individuals with free income tax returns, and provides clothing and food bank services.
Executive Director Kevin Alkenbrack, joined the mission after a career in sales. After reading What’s So Amazing About Grace, he was reconnected with his faith and inspired to help those in need. Alkenbrack was then mentored by David Smith, the founder of Morningstar, for two years. He says he’s inspired by the community’s generosity. “The support we receive shows that people care,” he says.
Morningstar relies on volunteers and donations to continue its work. Those interested in volunteering or donating can get in touch via the mission’s website or by calling. The mission is open Monday to Friday from 9 AM to 4 PM.
