Michael Holbrook, the Green Party candidate for Hastings–Lennox and Addington, says rural voices deserve the same respect as urban ones.
Holbrook, who was born in California to Canadian parents, spent years traveling through the U.S. and Latin America before settling in Ontario. He moved to Marmora in 2006 and fell in love with the area.
A veteran of the construction industry, Holbrook calls himself a “Blue-collar Green.” He has worked on sites across Canada, run his own businesses, and now imports low-impact construction equipment.
He has also been active in community non-profits, including Habitat for Humanity. He believes in helping people help themselves, saying, “a hand up, not a handout” is key to solving social issues.
Holbrook supports small and medium-sized businesses, balanced growth, and sustainability. He believes the Green Party of Ontario, under leader Mike Schreiner, offers the best path forward for democracy, the environment, and the economy.
Also on the ballot so far in H-L&A are Ric Bresee (PC Party of Ontario), Jessica Zielke (NDP), Lynn Rigby (Ontario Liberal Party), and Derek Sloan (Ontario Party).
