We continue our profiles of the local candidates running in the Provincial election.
Hastings-Lennox and Addington Incumbent MPP and PC Candidate Ric Bresee has a long background in both municipal and provincial politics and has always loved engaging with the community.
When asked the top issues that our riding is facing, Bresee started by noting how large our riding is and that it’s filled with very diverse communities. But overall, there are some very common elements.
How will they solve those issues? Bresee began by sharing the success of the Napanee Health Home that’s on track to connect everyone in Greater Napanee to primary care. He also highlighted the number of doctors and nurses they’ve brought in and the two new medical schools.
A potential trade war and 25% tariffs imposed by the United States is a fear for many. How would Bresee and the PC party protect our local businesses and residents? Bresee says in Ontario, we’ll need to protect our industries here.
Bresee went on to note the recent tariffs on steel. “If we can use those materials in our own build jobs here,” he said, “that will keep the industries active, it will also provide a lot of employment, and provide an asset that Ontarians will be able to use for the next 40, 50, 60 years.”
He concluded saying it’s a win-win situation to keep developing our own internal economy and make sure we stay strong in the face of whatever may come.
Election Day is February 27th.
