We continue our profiles of the local candidates running in the Provincial election.
Hastings-Lennox and Addington New Blue Candidate Glenn Tyrrell is a longtime resident of Madoc and has lived on a farm in the region for 12 years. He has spent 30 years as a commercial insurance broker, managing major clients in manufacturing, construction, and real estate across Ontario.
Looking to issues being faced in the riding, Tyrrell noted housing and affordable housing, healthcare, and the debt he says that has been created over the last three years which has impeded that progress.
When asked how he and his party will fix the issues this riding is facing, Tyrrell said they’d fix the healthcare issue by hiring back the nurses that were let go in 2020 due to the covid mandates, and to “bring in more people to service the needs of people.”
On trade, he warns of a potential trade war with the U.S. and criticizes Premier Doug Ford and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau for their approach. He says open communication, rather than tariffs, is the key to protecting Ontario businesses.
Election Day is February 27th.
