The recent severe winter weather is taking a toll on blood donations across Canada, including in our area.
Snowstorms, ice, and extreme cold have led to hundreds of canceled donation appointments, making it harder to keep blood supply levels stable.
Canadian Blood Services says 450 new donors are needed every day to meet demand. With donation numbers dropping, they are urging both new and returning donors to step up. Open appointments are available four days a week in Kingston at their office, located 850 Gardiners Road. Canadian Blood Services will also next be in Napanee on March 7th at the Best and Bash arena.
Giving blood is an easy way to help during winter, just like shoveling a neighbor’s driveway or providing a warm space for those in need. If you’ve never donated before, now is the time to start.
Appointments can be booked online at blood.ca, through the GiveBlood app, or by calling 1-888-2-DONATE (1-888-236-6283). Every donation helps save lives in Greater Napanee and across Canada.
